teconaco brings traditional kogin embroidery from Aomori into modern everyday life.
“こぎん刺し”について
藩政時代の津軽地方の仕事着かつ、普段着でした。
雪に閉ざされた長い冬。農民たちが限られた材料と社会的制約の中で粗い布目をうめて保温と農作業にも耐えうる様に作り出されたものです。
基本となる模様は30以上あり、竹の節、蝶、猫の目、馬のくつわ、ひょうたんなど生活に身近なものから名付けられています。
teconacoは、その営みを受け継ぎながら、
現代の暮らしにちょうどいいサイズと距離感で、こぎん刺しを届けます。
小さな布。静かな模様。
手に取ったとき、ほんの少し呼吸が整うような、
そんな“余白”をつくる存在でありたいと考えています。
Kogin embroidery was born in the harsh winters of Tsugaru, in northern Japan.
Originally created to reinforce fabric, it also carries patterns filled with quiet beauty and meaning.
At teconaco, we reinterpret this tradition into forms that fit gently into contemporary life.

柳宗悦が見た“こぎん刺し”
醜い「こぎん」はない。一枚とてない。捜しても無理である。
品に多少の上下はあろう。模様に幾許かの甲乙はあろう。だが悪い物とてはない。
なぜ醜い「こぎん」がないのか。別に秘密はない。法則に従順だからだと「こぎん」は答える。
此の答えよりはっきりしたものはない。
